| We stay small and work smart. By design. |
Based in Bakersville, a tiny hamlet within the town of New Hartford in Connecticut’s northwest hills, Yates Communication is headquartered in a historic village center home. It’s a great place to think, write, and get the job done with few interruptions.
|
It is from this pleasant perch that we work to make life better for our clients from Connecticut to California. We all keep our overhead low, our quality high, and our fees reasonable. We take deadlines seriously. If that means working nights and weekends, so be it. |

Our affiliate graphic designers share our background and philosophy. Experienced in working with and for major corporations and institutions, they also chose to work for themselves in environs of their own making closer to their families. Hugh “Putt” Brown is in nearby North Canton, Ted Paulsen is in Hartford, and Joan Auclair is almost a neighbor.
Putt has a degree in typography from Rochester Polytechnic Institute (RPI) and for 20+ years owned and operated a Connecticut printing and typesetting business. Ted has a graphic design degree from the University of Utah is a former chief designer for a Fortune 100 company. Joan Auclair holds an English degree from Brown University and has spent 25 years in publication design and community service.
Our print houses vary, but we traditionally use Goulet Printery, a full-service, family-owned and operated printing company in nearby Barkhamsted. They are good people and third-generation printers who go the extra mile when it’s needed. We like that, and so will you.
We work intensely when you need us, but will enthusiastically take a day off when you don’t. Neal likes to play with his antique autos. Putt goes fly fishing, hunting or does some carpentry. Ted is either playing guitar and singing in area clubs or racing his sloop on Long Island Sound. Joan devotes lots of time to community projects, good books, and old movies.
It all helps recharge our batteries so that we’ll be ready when you call us again.
And, if you’re like our other clients, you will. |
